How much information is there? Data stream overload? Seemingly infinite number of words to google? How do you display this information, is the structure part of the answer and the problem? When the worlds financial structures implode Johanson and Holmes move to displode an now obsolete word meaning to applaud, best, strike or an explosion to label their exhibition in a time when the world is seeking new directions from catastrophic uncertainties. Both artists work with a continuous intellectual and visual dialogue and this show is in part a visualization of their ongoing discussion. Shanghai based artists, Pia Johanson and Lucinda Holmes, exhibit their visual explorations into diagrams and intellectual research for the studio’s latest exhibition ‘displode’.

Lucinda Holmes
Is an award winning artist who exhibits internationally. Her work is presented on the New York’s Drawings Centers Viewing Program. In addition to her visual art she actively engages in the artisitic community through writing about exhibitions and contemporary art practices.

Lucinda Holmes
